Interested in booking a Sound Collectors show?
Choose from a variety of themes & stories, cultures & artists…
The Sound Collectors shows typically combine a total of 16-20 renowned performers (some soloists, some trios, some larger groups) from at least 8 different world cultures or music genres. Imagine a world map visible on the floor and the performers, all on stage at once, but standing in their own regions of the “stage map”. A story, theme or musical narrator then brings them – and the audience- on a journey that will gradually unite all of the performers and cultures, frequently joined by the enraptured audience by the close of the 3-hr multimedia production.
Sound Collectors shows can be adjusted to involve smaller numbers of performers for smaller stages/budgets at various performing arts venues or music festivals worldwide.
We are currently producing two different Sound Collectors programs for upcoming tours:
1. “Domani” - which means “Tomorrow” in Italian. Shows how each person on earth today can be “a sound collector on a harmony quest”, joining us in discovering and celebrating the music stars, cultures and instruments that will create the music -and world- of tomorrow.
Star performers/cultures in this show rotate to some degree but usually include those from India, Vietnam, China, Middle East, Western Europe, South America, Polynesian cultures, USA, Ireland, and/or Eastern Europe.
Examples of instruments involved: sitar, guzheng, dan tranh, dan bau, dumbek, tambura, grand piano, slack key guitar, Celtic harp, oud, blues guitar, tabla, drum set, vocal styles.
The performers involved are major “celebrity” music stars in their particular cultures.
2. “Aditsan” - which means “Listener” in the Navajo language. This show includes some of the global cultures/instruments listed above, but has a narration and story based on the Native American tribes and their different myths about the origins of music. A principal performer and co-producer of this particular show is Native American actress, musician, composer and director, Jehnean Washington, and a variety of instruments/music stars representing native peoples from throughout both North and South America will be featured.
