| Pepsi Refresh Project - vote for LFL every day in December! | ||||||
![]() Listen for Life's Pepsi Refresh Project idea is up for voting through December 31st! "Inspire and film musicians playing for peace worldwide on January 8th" You can cast up to ONE VOTE PER DAY for our project! So please vote every day if you can! Well, it is connected to our OTHER breaking news! Most of you hopefully know by now that Listen for Life is doing its first annual NY concert, at Carnegie Hall at 8pm on Sunday January 8th, 2012! So.. in order to honor all of the musicians around the globe who give of their gifts to inspire dialogue, unity, or understanding, Listen for Life has declared January 8th to be Multicultural Music Day worldwide! Our Carnegie Hall event will now simply be the centerpiece of impromptu cross-cultural music events happening all over the world... Donna has been contacting musicians one by one by one - the response has been absolutely tremendous and very exciting, but we'd still love YOUR help in spreading the invite to all you know as well! ANy genre, any instruments, any kind of venue, any kind of program.... Simply grab a few fellow performers (of at least 2 different cultures from yourself) and create a simple, impromptu, cross-cultural concert in your own community! TELL us your plans, and we will promote YOUR event on our world-ranked website that will cover all of the Multicultural Music Day events we hear about. Then get a friend to video even a few minutes of the performance, (even just on a mobile phone) and send us the video - we will collect them all and create (eventually) a broadcast program about the POWER of Multicultural Music to be truly a force of unity, nourishment, dialogue, peace and understanding, worldwide. So far we know that there are going to be events in Africa, Asia, Europe, and America.....and none of these events were even dreamt of one week ago! These musicians simply got excited and inspired by the idea and they understood that impromptu events can work out just great. So, think for a minute - what could YOU do, and where? Even street corners are great! Encourage all musicians you know to do something as well. Why not? What a great way to energize the world in the start of a new year! And even if you are not a musician, do spread the idea and do please VOTE for us in the Pepsi Refresh Project (at http://j.mp/LFL-PEPSI - please share this link with your friends and ask them to vote for us too!), so that we can win the funding that will help us to cover the costs of this imaginative project. Obviously, it is not just about celebrating Multicultural Music Day - it's about inspiring musicians, and helping listeners to discover all the great sounds and music styles that can make their coming year an even more enriching musical experience. |

The
Power of Eight
Celebrating Multicultural Music in Carnegie Hall and around the world on January 8th! AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 MINUTES 8th January 2012, 8pm Sunday, 8 musicians, 8 cultures, 8 instruments
One year ago now, we
thought it would be a worthwhile venture to introduce Listen for Life and
its mission to NY audiences, and at the same time to share with them
specific instruments, cultures, and performers that had not yet been
presented in famed Carnegie Hall. Little did we know all of the things
that would transpire, both positively and challenge-making, during the
ensuing months....and here we suddenly are, with a few short weeks to
go!
But if you or your relatives and friends are anywhere near NY on January 8th, we need YOU to go, as well! We are so incredibly fortunate to have these wonderful, inspiring and generous musicians flying in from all corners of the planet and donating their performances in a very unique "Around the World" program that will go Eastwards around the globe, from the Americas to Hawaii to Vietnam, to the Middle East (3 major artists of Israel, Syria and Jordan respectively, all performing together on one stage, as a musical statement for peace!) and then continuing east, back into NY to end with the scintilating jazz improvisations of Taylor Eigsti - and a special "finale" surprise involving all of the performers and cultures together! We have deliberately set the prices extremely low (compared with normal Carnegie Hall tickets) and on top of that we are offering 40% discounts for Familes, Groups, Seniors, Students (of all ages) and Children/Youth. Our goal is to introduce these new sounds and instruments to as many young people as possible, so that they discover the great listening alternatives available to them and learn early on about multicultural music's power in transforming the human spirit. Donna is speaking on lots of radio stations nationwide in the next few weeks, discussing "New Years resolutions" and saying that one of the most powerful resolutions we can make is to change our music listening, so that we can change our lives. What better way to start out that new resolution than to participate in this inspired and inspiring Listen for Life celebration concert at Carnegie Hall! Don't forget - January 8th! Tickets are on sale now, at $35, $55, and $85!. Discounts: [maximum of one discount per person] - ALL children 12 and under get
40% discount
- All STUDENTS (of any age, with ID) get 40% discount - All seniors (65 and up) get 40% discount. Tickets may be purchased by phone at CarnegieCharge (212) 247-7800 or from the Carnegie Hall Website. For discounts call GSA (212) 710-4329 Major sponsors of this event include Chateau Jewelers (Forest Hills, NY), Ho’olupa Hawaiian Culture Foundation, and Travels with Music (an interactive travel & music experience, distributed by FableVision Learning)

| At a recent conference Donna was at a table with the longtime producer of Oprah, renowned media expert and author Michelle Anton. She was impressed with the message that Donna shared and promised to check out the Listen for Life Website after she returned home. The very next day Donna received an email note with the totally unsolicited "testimonial" below: | ||||||
| "Dearest
Donna: Your Listen for Life site is absolutely delicious. It is a feast for the eyes, ears and the heart. Thank you for being a conduit for transformation and elevation of the human spirit. We need this now more than ever. You are to music what Mother Teresa of Calcutta was to the poor, sick, orphaned and dying..........."
