Dear
Friends,
LFL Benefit
Concert, Oct 2nd: We open this newsletter with a
last-minute reminder about a really exciting Listen for Life
benefit house-concert! If you are anywhere near Los Altos
Hills, CA on Sunday please DO try to come, because you will not want to miss
this rare opportunity to hear (and meet!) Grammy-nominee jazz pianist
phenomenon Taylor Eigsti, "up close and personal" in the gorgeous
setting of a very special private vineyard estate. Other renowned
performers in this program will include:
- Emmy-award winner and National Music Champion
of Vietnam, percussionist Van Anh Vanessa Vo,
- Award-winning Hawaiian artist, slack key
guitarist Patrick Landeza,
- Young but highly sought-after opera prodigy
Ricky Garcia, and
- Pianist, television presenter and former
Artistic Ambassador of both UK & USA, Donna Stoering,
performing a piece written for her by California-based world music
composer Brent Heisinger, who will also be in attendance.
The benefit concert starts at 4pm sharp, but come at 3pm to mingle with
the performers and the other guests while enjoying a selection of
appetizers and wine. This concert is a fundraiser for Listen for Life's
projects and programs including our January 8th 2012 event at Carnegie Hall in New York,
featuring a variety of cultures not normally shared in that hallowed
space. Suggested donation is $75 per person but this is not mandatory.
As it is being held at a private residence, please phone or email Listen for Life to
get the exact address, prior to 3pm on Sunday! (call 510 540 8136 or
email events@listenforlife.org)
Leaders Causing
Leaders
Conference:
The annual LCL Conference in Marina del Rey, CA
will take place on
October 8-9, and Listen
for Life is an invited participant. World change-makers
come together to discuss new ways to encourage, promote and activate
positive change in society, whether it be in education, peace-making
initiatives, media, social entrepreneurship, or other approaches. We
are intrigued to observe that ever-increasingly, music is seen as
indeed a powerful tool for bringing about this change, both in society
and individuals.
Listen for Life's Executive Director Andy Anderson will be participating in those
dialogues at this conference. Both he and LFL founder Donna Stoering have been speaking
several times during September at Rotary Clubs and other service
organizations, as well as on television and radio interviews.
Peace
Day recap: Listen
for
Life organized a FREE multicultural concert for
UN International Peace Day
in Oakland, California, on
September 21st,
2011. The concert, held at the Bandstand at Preservation Park and
featuring music from Central / South America, Hawaii, Ghana, and the
Balkans, was
greatly enjoyed by audience and musicians alike!
Future
directions: In the past three weeks Listen for Life has
been approached by three
different school districts asking us to come and create MusicMessage
Campaigns as either an in-school or after-school program on a
regular
basis. We are excited for the opportunity to help more children (and
their teachers or parents!) to realize the power that music has, to
influence their mood, thoughts, academic success, behavior and/or
relationships, both at home and in the classroom.
We are now putting together teams of experienced youth-leaders of all
cultures in each city/region of the country, to work together with
Listen for
Life musicians in carrying out the MusicMessage Campaign
programs in as many communities as possible. Let us know if you would
like to participate on a team in any way, or if you know of a school or
an after-school program that would love to provide this very important
program to their students!
Unique
Sponsorship Opportunity!
Are any of you involved with a business, product, brand, corporation,
OR a foundation, non-profit organization, or cause - anything that
would benefit from marketing its name, existence or purpose to a wider
audience??
Let us help!
Listen for Life currently has a few openings left for both
corporate sponsors and program booklet advertisers for our January 8th
concert at prestigious Carnegie hall in NY. Sponsorship level
prices
are extremely reasonable and result in many year-round benefits for
your company or organization, beyond just the event itself, through our
related social media and Website reach. Luxury product or services can
also participate by donating items for the silent auction that will be
held during a very elegant VIP reception prior to the concert, being
hosted by a renowned advertising agency in NY, where attendees will
mingle with dignitaries, celebrities and the concert performers.

themselves with a world-changing organization that is making a
difference. Join them, by joining us!

Donna
Stoering interview on Comcast: On Sept 28th, Donna was
interviewed by Barbara Rodgers for Comcast's "Newsmakers" show. In
this video of the interview, she talks about the vision behind LFL's Carnegie
Hall concert on Jan 8th 2012.
"…..what
have you
heard today?"
At
a recent conference Donna was at a table with the longtime
producer of Oprah, renowned media expert and author Michelle Anton. She
was impressed with the message that Donna shared and promised to check
out the Listen
for Life Website after she returned home. The
very next
day Donna received an email note with the totally unsolicited
"testimonial" below:
"Dearest
Donna:
Your Listen
for
Life
site
is absolutely delicious. It
is a feast for the eyes, ears and the heart.
Thank
you for being a conduit for transformation and elevation of the
human spirit. We need this now more than ever.
You
are to music what Mother Teresa of Calcutta was to the poor, sick,
orphaned and dying..........."
