2011: an overview
Listen for Life Founder and Artistic Director, Donna
Stoering and
Executive Director Andy Anderson have both been traveling nonstop since
January to participate in major conferences, partnership meetings,
production presentations, or development courses while continuing to
perform concerts, Notes for
Nourishment benefits, and speaking
engagements to promote
Listen for Life's mission, worldwide! (It's a
good thing they are married to each other and work together on
Listen for Life
projects 24/7, or they would never see each other!)
January:
travel and performances within California.
February:
a conference in Los Angeles and performances / speaking in the
Bay Area.
March:
England and then to Nevada for the CEOspace Summit - gained many
potential new board members, advisers and donors from this wonderful
group of people!
April:
speaking engagements and meetings in NYC, also chosen to
participate in the exciting National Publicity Summit there;
Listen for Life Notes
for Nourishment performances in California and St Louis. Met several
people interested in setting up a
Listen for Life volunteer team in St Louis!
May:
Listen for Life Notes for Nourishment concerts throughout
Hawaii, Oregon and
California; set up a
Listen for Life Hawaii volunteer team (with huge thanks to
Miho Miki May, who has been instrumental in getting things going there
after some previous
Listen for Life concerts in Hawaii last November). They
are
interested in doing a Peace Day event for Hawaii in September.
Applied for a Music Therapy project grant.
June:
most exciting potential-partnership discussions with a major
online media company in California; completed massive
production-grant deadline (fingers crossed) with renowned documentary
film producer Michael Singh; then traveled to Boston and New Hampshire.
A new intern came to us for the summer - Bolei Yin, from China! She is
studying economics and finance at university in NY but wanted a summer
internship on the West Coast. She came to do accounting but since her
true love is event planning, she immediately got put to work!
July
found us in Wyoming, Colorado, and California. Speaking engagements
in Denver, and presentations of
Listen for Life's "Travels with Music" series to very
musically-inclined school district officials in Colorado and Wyoming.
Attended a CEOspace meeting in Colorado and met with several extremely
helpful individuals who are leading us to potential corporate sponsors
for
Listen for Life - watch this space!
We also got offered our own
Listen for Life sound stage and 3D projection dome at a
very major new music festival happening in New York next summer - we
get to choose and invite all of the musicians for our own part of the
festival - we will spill the details as soon as we're allowed!
While in Colorado, we met in Boulder with the CEO of a quality
music-education system and product, who would like an affiliate
relationship with
Listen for Life and our website. We have been getting
some queries or approaches from advertisers but we have said no.
However, we are considering the initiation of a few affiliate banners
when the music products are directly relevant. Any comments or thoughts
on that?
While in Denver, also had initial meetings to set up a Denver chapter
of
Listen for Life volunteers and projects. They are looking
at starting with either a Notes for Nourishment concert to benefit the
famed Swallow Hill music center, or perhaps a Peace Day event for
Denver in September.
August:
meetings in England; continued production and development meetings at
company in Silicon Valley; and a "justGO!" concert and "Vietnamese
Luau" (sic) in Lafayette, California on Thurs evening, August
25th - full details are HERE! Featured performers (and
cooks!) were Patrick Landeza and Vanessa Vo along with special
guests. This fun and unique evening was a benefit fundraiser
for
Listen for Life's upcoming Carnegie Hall event on January 8th 2012.
September:
Listen
for Life organized a FREE
multicultural concert in Oakland from 5-7pm on Peace
Day (September 21st).

Hills.

Our BIGGEST news:
Plan NOW to join Listen
for
Life musicians, volunteers, and joyful listeners for a
giant concert at
CARNEGIE HALL,
New York, on
Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 8pm!
This will be a fantastic program, a fundraiser for Listen for
Life, and a major global event highlighting the use of
music for peace-building at the start of 2012: Listen for
Life is bringing together the renowned musicians of three
different Middle-Eastern countries:
all performing on one stage, advocating for peace through
their words and shared music.
Vietnamese national champion and Emmy Award winner, Van-Anh
Vanessa Vo,
will be performing as well on this exciting "justGO!" program format.
And how many times has Hawaiian traditional music made it into Carnegie
Hall? Not many! Rising star singer/songwriter and slack-key guitarist
Patrick
Landeza is the first mainland-born artist to win the Islands'
top music awards, and he has cherished a long-held dream to
bring Hawaiian music to Carnegie - it won't be what you are
expecting!
Jazz pianist, composer and Grammy nominee Taylor
Eigsti is based
in New York but usually on tour somewhere in the world, so we are lucky
that
he's in town on January 8th and very excited to come join us for a
short solo set!
Listen
for Life founder, concert pianist Donna
Stoering will play a wonderful world-music composition
written for her by
Californian composer Brent Heisinger; then she and violist Erin Nolan
(founder of Listen for
Life's Notes
for Nourishment project) will join forces
for some new cross-cultural arrangements!
The concert will be held in Zankel Auditorium of Carnegie Hall in NY.
Tickets will go on sale soon (see HERE for details), so stay
tuned!

of the concert are HERE |
